Can Gio, attractive place for ecological tourists

In the King Tu Duc dynasty (the 19th century), Can Gio had deep and wide bays where trading boats used to travel in and out busily. In the Nguyen dynasty and French colonial time, Can Gio was a military post, controlling the sea surface of the former Gia Dinh citadel.

Since 1978, Can Gio has belonged to Ho Chi Minh City with the name Duyen Hai district which was renamed into Can Gio district in 1991.

Inside the Pearl of the Orient

The Vietnam Airlines airplane was descending to Tan Son Nhat international airport. A bird’s-eye view of Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City ), for long described as the pearl of the Orient, reveals a sparkling city that promotes the eagerness among visitors to explore it.In Saigon , there are only two seasons, the dry and the rainy. It is neither too hot nor too cold in the City, a light coat would be enough to ward off the cold during the coldest days; that is why visitors can come to Saigon at any time in the year.

The flower market at night

From the night market, flowers are transported
to many places in the city.

Saigon by night is bustling with not only discotheques, bars, culinary streets and night clubs but also the city’s colorful and aromatic flower market with rural features which remains a fantastic place to city-dwellers when darkness falls.

Originally known as Ho Thi Ky flower market, this market has existed since 1987 and was then the biggest wholesale bazaar in the city. Every night, flowers, vegetables and fruits were brought here from Da Lat, the Southwestern and Central regions to be distributed to many other markets in the city the following morning. Since 1996, however, only flowers have been sold here.

Vam Sat Tourist Site

Location: Ly Nhon commune, Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City.

Historically, this land had been damaged by toxic chemicals that turned the zone into an uninhabited land. Thanks to the hard work of people, the forest has gradually recovered, and its beauty and magnificence feature have been returned.

Zoo and Botanical Garden

Location Ho Chi Minh City Zoo and Botanical Garden is located on No.2 Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
Characteristic: Ho Chi Minh City Zoo and Botanical Gardens was founded by JB Louis Pierre, a famous French botanist.

Saigoneses like to call the Garden So thu. In Vietnamese it means “the zoological park”. Its official name however is the Thao Cam Vien. In Vietnamese “Thao” means “plants and trees” and “Thu” means “animals”: indicating that the garden has both plants and animals.

Suoi Tien Tourist Area

Location: Suoi Tien Tourist Area is located in Thu Duc District, northeast of Ho Chi Minh City centre.
Characteristic: It is an entertainment area for local citizens and foreign visitors.

The wild landscape houses many rare species; for example, there are approximately 2,000 crocodiles bred in Crocodile Lake. Another popular attraction is the aquarium where tourists can admire hundreds of fish species and other marine creatures swimming in glass tunnels.

Ky Hoa Touist Area

Location: No.12, 3-2 St., District 10 , Ho Chi Minh City

Ky Hoa Tourist Area, located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, is a spacious area spread out over 14 ha. In Ky Hoa, there is a park, a market, modern hotels, and a wide array of restaurants. The area also comprises the Hoa Binh Theater, the biggest theater in the city.

Ky Hoa is divided into two parts: Ky Hoa I and Ky Hoa II. A nice bridge connects the two parts. There is plenty of entertainment such as sailing on the lake, going around the lake by train, visiting the small zoo and aquarium, playing electronic games, and roller-skating. Doi Hoa Vang auditorium, which has over 1000 seats, was built near the lake.

Cultural activities, such as international dance festivals and fashion shows, are often held in this area.

Van Thanh park

Location: 48/10 Dien Bien Phu street, Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City

Van Thanh Park is located east of Ho Chi Minh City, in Binh Thanh district. The park lies on the bank of the Thi Nghe River, a branch of the Saigon River. From the park, there is a view of Vung Tau. Van Thanh Park is the entertainment area mostly prized by Ho Chi Minh City citizens. At night, Van Thanh Park is filled with music. Festivals, fashion shows, and cast selections are often held in the park.
